Boeing 727 “Midway 2000” PlaneTag

Despite all the anticipated havoc of the Y2K “millennium bug”, it should come as no surprise that an aviation legend and industry pioneer like Clay Lacy would be raring to rush headlong into the unknown, even as the rest of the world tentatively celebrated with bated breath. Determined to be the first to greet the year 2000 and finally see what all the fuss was about, Clay flew 40 guests in this Boeing 727 toward the most speculated new year in memory. Flying from California to Hawaii, and then on to Midway Island, Clay guided his plane across the International Date Line just in time to greet the very first moments of January 1st, 2000, with all aboard triumphantly soaring into the future before all others around the globe. Clay then landed on Midway Island, celebrating the end of 1999 and ensuring he and his passengers were also the last people to ring in the New Year again. In celebration of the living legend Clay Lacy and his spirit of adventure, you can own a piece of Y2K history with a commemorative PlaneTag cut from the fuselage of this monumental “Midway 2000” plane.
