This aircraft was painted to match “Willit Run?” of the 351st FG.
Stored in the National Air and Space Museum, this P-51 Mustang is painted to match commander Frederick H. Lefebre’s “Willit Run?” of the 351st Fighter Squadron. Though not his actual aircraft which completed 119 missions with the 353rd Fighter Group, this example is in pristine condition with only 211 hours clocked. Initially received in 1945 at Andrews Field, Maryland, the aircraft on display never saw combat. When removed from service, it featured the statements “Enlist in the AAF” and “Guard the Victory” on the fuselage below the cockpit.
