History and Specifications:
Primary aircraft of the US Army 160th SOAR “Night Stalkers” unit, the Sikorsky MH-60L is one of the most advanced helicopters ever built. Introduced in the 1990s as an upgrade to the UH-60A, MH-60L/UH-60L Black Hawks received several notable changes that enhanced their battlefield performance. Refitted with General Electric T700-GE-401D turboshaft engines, strengthened flight controls, and Hover IR Suppression System which cools the exhaust gases, MH-60L Black Hawks were more durable and harder to fire upon with IR guided missiles. Tasked with troop insertion, air-support, and ground-attack missions, the MH-60L excels in low-light conditions with the use of FLIR. Carrying up to two minigun or chain guns in the doors, missiles or bombs on the external pylons, and several troops inside, the venerable Black Hawk is an incredibly versatile rotorcraft.
